TIPS FOR TEACHERS AND LIBRARIANS:
Julia Morgan, Architect
of Dreams
- Design a building. Do a drawing of the outside, then
a more-detailed drawing for one of the rooms. Cut out tiny pieces of
furniture and glue them in place.
- On the Internet, look up famous buildings such as:
New York's Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, or
California's Golden Gate Bridge.
- Read my book and talk about it during Women's History
Month in March.
- Discuss the changing role of women in the workplace.
- Tour a Julia Morgan building, such as Hearst Castle,
near San Simeon, California or the Berkeley City Club, also in
California.
- Watch the KQED/PBS documentary, "Julia Morgan, A
Life by Design," to learn more about Julia Morgan.
